(BEECH GROVE) - Police are investigating a hit list that was scrawled on a stall in the girl’s bathroom at Beech Grove High School.
JackkRinehart of TheIndyChannel.com reports, the discovery of the hit list was made Thursday, and parents of the seven students on the list were notified.
Along with the names of the female students, the list also proclaimed "you will die," officials told RTV6.
Beech Grove police Capt. Robert Mercuri said that the hit list is being taken very seriously.
"You can never be too cautious. You can never pick and choose which one is legitimate and which one is not. You've got to treat them all the same," said Mercuri.
The school has a certified school safety specialist inside the building and immediately notified parents of additional security measures that were being taken.
The school is cooperating with the investigation. Some parents of the students on the list met with school officials Friday morning.
Police and school officials said the seven targets named in connection with the threat do not fit a common student profile. Amy Flitcraft has two daughters who were named on the list.
"My kids were terrified and I took my kids out of school yesterday. I was very, very afraid," Flitcraft said.
Beech Grove police said officers have had more of a presence at Beech Grove schools recently.
One parent of a student on the list told RTV6 that it was the second time within a year that a hit list had been found at the school.
