(INDIANAPOLIS) - Veteran broadcaster Gene Slaymaker passed away over the weekend.
The 84-year-old was well known for his involvement with the Indiana Professional Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and established the Gene and Julie Slaymaker "Indiana Service to Journalism" award in honor of their 30 years of service to the organization as statewide contest coordinators.
Who's Who of America recognized his over 200 journalism awards, including three coveted National Headliners Award.
