(TERRE HAUTE) - Scraping the windshield before your morning commute to work might be a bit of a hassle, but it’s also the law!
Michael Clouse of WTHI reports that a police officer can pull you over, even write you a ticket, for getting behind the wheel with ice, or anything else, blocking your line-of-sight.
It's called obstructed driving and offenders can be slapped with a fine averaging about $150.
Indiana State Police say it's something they've seen a lot of recently.
"People don't want to start their cars, I understand gas prices are high and such," said Sargeant Joe Watts of the Indiana State Police. "People don't want to let their cars idle and melt that snow and ice off and they're literally driving with a porthole if you will in the front window and that's very dangerous."
Watts says it's also illegal to have your passenger seat or back seat filled so high that you can't see out the windows.
