(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis mother made her first court appearance Tuesday after being charged with arson and the murder of her 7-year-old son.
Police say 30-year-old Jessica Rogers was making meth last month when her apartment caught fire.
Tuesday morning a judge advised her of her charges and her rights. She was appointed a public defender.
Police say Rogers and her boyfriend jumped out of a window. Rogers told police the fire was too hot to save her son, but investigators say she did not try to rescue him.
Toxicology results showed Rogers had alcohol and drugs in her system.
A jury trial was scheduled for March 18.
