(AUBURN) - A northeastern Indiana auto parts maker has laid off 130 workers after losing a contract.
Contech Castings spokesman Robert LaCourciere tells kpcnews.com and The Journal Gazette its Auburn plant laid off about half of its workforce on Friday after losing the contract last week. He says the jobs paid $10 to $15 per hour.
The plant makes and machines die-cast aluminum parts, including steering components.
Indiana Department of Workforce Development spokesman Joe Frank says the department's rapid response team has visited the plant.
Southfield, Mich.-based Contech Castings has five plants, including one in Pierceton, Ind.
