(BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY) - Indiana State Police say only minor injuries were reported after an accident involving a sheriff’s deputy vehicle happened Sunday afternoon in Bartholomew County.
Shortly after 1 p.m., a Bartholomew County Sheriff's deputy was traveling eastbound on County Road 800 North responding to an emergency call near County Road 500 East.
The deputy had his emergency lights and siren on.
A Jeep in front of him made a left turn as he went to pass her vehicle.
He took action to avoid hitting the car but struck the rear.
The deputy was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with hand pain, according to a release.
The driver of the Jeep and her 3-year-old son were taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
