(CROWN POINT) - A Lake County jury has found a Gary man guilty of three counts of murder in the slayings of his wife and two teenage stepchildren more than five years ago.
The Times and Post-Tribune report 47-year-old Kevin Isom could receive the death penalty during the sentencing phase of his trial that's set to begin Wednesday. He also could receive sentences of specific years or life without parole.
The jury took a little more than two hours Tuesday to find Isom guilty in the August 2007 shooting deaths of his wife, Cassandra, and stepchildren, 16-year-old Michael Moore, 16, and 13-year-old Ci'Andria Cole.
Isom lost his job shortly before the slaying and told police his wife had threatened to leave him.
The defense argued Isom was struck unconscious by the real perpetrator.
