(GREENWOOD) - An Indianapolis man is facing drunk driving and possession of stolen property charges after he was pulled over on a motorized shopping scooter stolen from a Walmart in Greenwood.
Marcus Degraphenreed was pulled over at around 4 am Thursday. Officers say he was going north in the southbound lanes of State Road 135 on a motorized cart with a sign that said "in-store use only."
Degraphenreed told officers he found the cart, but officers discovered it had been stolen from the Walmart on Emerson and County Line Road.
Degraphenreed was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
The cart went missing from the Walmart at Emerson and County Line. Degraphenreed was pulled over on State Road 135 - that's six miles away. That type of scooter has a maximum speed of 6 miles per hour, so it would take at least an hour to drive that far.
