(MONTICELLO) - A student at Woodlawn Elementary School in Monticello allegedly brought a gun to school and showed other students on Wednesday.
The Monticello Herald Journal says school officials didn't see the gun but parents told the school they heard about the situation from their children. The gun was not loaded.
Officials say the gun was never pointed at a student or used in a harmful situation. No prior threats were made against the student or other students at the school.
Police said the student and parents confirmed that the gun was brought to school and the student has access to it.
The student has been suspended from school.
Police are unsure if charges will be filed.
