(KOMOMO) - An Indiana school has captured first place in a national recycling competition.
More than 1,500 schools participated in the second annual K-12 Recycle-Bowl competition.
Student's at Kokomo's Taylor Primary claimed the top prize for recycling 47 pounds of waste per child. The school will receive $4,500 dollars in prize money.
The total amount of recyclable recovered during the competition was 4.5 million pounds, which is the equivalent of 334 cars being removed from the road.
