(GREENWOOD) - A man told police that a group of men who stole his vehicle fired a gunshot at him when he chased them Saturday.
Brandon Ray called police to report a vehicle theft in progress from the 3100 block of Buckmoor Parkway.
Police said when Ray noticed his Hondo Pilot was being stolen, he got into his Toyota Camry to chase down his vehicle.
Ray noticed a third car, a Dodge Charger, was also in the court, and he followed that vehicle because he believed it was related to the theft of his vehicle, a media release said.
Ray told police he believed there were four males inside the Charger, all wearing tight masks.
Ray told police that one of the males fired a single shot at him with a handgun, the media release said.
After the shot was fired, the men fled south toward the Olive Branch strip mall, and Ray went back home to be with his family, the release said.
Police later located the Charger back in the 3000 block of Buckmoor Court and further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen out of Westfield on Feb. 7, police said.
Police located 21-year-old Lemickol Thomas on the back porch in the 1400 block of Heron Ridge and he was taken into custody.
Thomas is charged in connection with residential burglary, vehicle theft, property theft and resisting police.
