(TERRE HAUTE) - Local Fire Departments were called to a home on the south side of town shortly after 6:30 this morning.
Honey Creek and Terre Haute Fire departments worked to fight the flames shooting from the house on State Road 63 across from the Federal Penitentiary.
One person was inside the home at the time, but managed to escape unharmed.
Josh Sittler, Battalion Chief of the Honey Creek Fire Department tells News 10 that there were no smoke detectors in the home, and a passerby alerted the occupant to the fire.
State Road 63 is closed from Springhill Drive to Johnson Drive while the efforts continue.
A cause for the fire has not yet been determined.
