(LAFAYETTE) - A Lafayette father was arrested in Arkansas after being named a suspect in the death of the mother of his three children, police said.
Lafayette Police Department officers said they received a tip about a possible homicide at a home in the 3700 block of McCarty Lane on Thursday. After searching the area, police found the body of Marisol Arze-Lujan, 25, inside the home. Her three children and their father were missing from the home, police said.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the father of the children, Misael Sanchez, 32, was a suspect in her death and had left the area with their children ages 1, 7 and 8. All three were located in Clark County, Arkansas, about 4:30 a.m. Friday.
Sanchez was arrested in Arkansas on murder charges, police said. He's tentatively scheduled to be extradited back to Indiana. The children were taken into custody by child protective services until they can be claimed by family members, police said.
Police did not say how Arze-Lujan died, but an autopsy was scheduled to be performed on Saturday by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office.
