(TERRE HAUTE) - Police arrested a Terre Haute man late Monday, after reports that he pointed a gun at his ex-girlfriend.
Anthony Carpton, 20, faces preliminary charges of Pointing a Firearm, Intimidation and Misdemeanor Resisting Law Enforcement. He's being held on $25,000 cash bond.
Police were first called to the 1100 block of Spruce Street around 12:30 p.m. Monday, on reports that Carpton had pointed a handgun at his ex-girlfriend, Katheryne Barrow, with whom he still lived.
When police arrived, they reported seeing Carpton run off and jump a fence. Later, officers reported finding Carpton in a parking lot. Inside a nearby dumpster, they also reported finding a Carpton's duffel bag along with a handgun. The handgun included three shells, officers said.
Carpton appeared in court Tuesday afternoon.
When asked whether he would like to make a statement, Carpton said "I was just leaving. That's all I (have) to say."
