(INDIANAPOLIS) - Sources have told 24-Hour News 8 that the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make an announcement Thursday regarding possible new charges against a suspect in the Richmond Hill home explosion.
Officials at the Marion County Jail say they overheard phone calls between one of the Leonard brothers and someone outside of the jail. The two were allegedly plotting against a witness who was questioned following the Richmond Hill explosion.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced in February he would not seek the death penalty against Monserrate Shirley, Mark Leonard, and Bob Leonard Jr. and would instead seek life-without-parole sentences.
Each of the suspects was initially charged with two counts of murder and dozens of arson charges for the November blast caused by ignition of natural gas that killed two neighbors, Dion and Jennifer Longworth, and irreparably damaged dozens of homes.
The three will appear in court again on April 10.
