(WESTFIELD) - Two eighteen-year-old men face charges for dealing Ecstasy.
The Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force arrested Brendan J. Estrella and Cody Clear Tuesday near 116th St. And Keystone Ave. in Carmel.
Estrella was booked on three counts of dealing and possession; Clear was booked on one count of dealing.
The task force spent two months on the investigation, and more arrests are expected to follow, with the help of the Carmel Police Department.
Ecstasy (methylenedioxymethamphetamine or MDMA) is commonly sold in a tablet or pill form. Users and dealers sometimes refer to it as "Molly," although it has several nicknames.
The task force says it's not uncommon for Ecstasy to contain other substances such as methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and PCP, which can make using the drug potentially lethal. It's a synthetic drug with both stimulant and hallucinogenic qualities that can produce a feeling of euphoria. The drug suppresses the need to eat, drink, or sleep and can raise a person's body temperature to dangerous levels.
Estrella's charges: three counts of Dealing a Schedule I, II, or III Controlled Substance (Ecstasy), a class B felony, and three counts of Possession of a Schedule I, II, III, or IV Controlled Substance (Ecstasy), a class D felony.
Clear's charge: one count of Dealing a Schedule I, II, or III Controlled Substance (Ecstasy), a class B felony.
The Hamilton/Boone County Drug Task Force is comprised of officers from the Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville and Lebanon Police Departments, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office with support from the prosecutors of Boone and Hamilton Counties.
