(HOPE) - It’s an old house, a real fixer-upper, in the small town of Hope in Bartholomew County.
John LaBerge of WISH TV8 reports that the asking price for the house built in the 1800s is likely the reason its sparking interest from buyers across the country.
A dollar is all it takes to buy this 1870s Victorian house.
Julie Begin is the Director of the Hope Community Center, which owns the house. She says the center bought the house, but really just wanted the land, so they could expand their services.
"The house needs a family to live in it. It's a beautiful house and it's a large house and it fits into the character of Hope and the history,"
Begin says there is too much history to just demolish the house which is why she and the Indiana Historical Society would rather sell it.
However, there is one condition. The new owner has to move the house- a move Begin says could run tens of thousands of dollars.
"The house would be very sound and even after moving it would be as structurally as sound as some of the houses being built today because of the way it was built,"
If no one comes forward with plans to move the house by the end of August--Begin says it will be knocked down.
