Last updated on Friday, April 12, 2013

(UNDATED) - A recall of 3.4 million vehicles due to an airbag problem is underway by four Japanese automakers.

Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Honda are conducting the global recall.

Toyota is recalling the most -- about 1.73 million vehicles globally, including 580,000 in North America.

A spokesman for the company says some airbags at the front seat next to the driver may not inflate when necessary.

No injuries or deaths have been reported.

Honda is recalling just over a million vehicles, Nissan about 480,000 and Mazda nearly 46,000 thousand vehicles.
