(INDIANAPOLIS) - A new judge will handle the case of former Secretary of State Charlie White.
White requested a new judge and also filed a request for a special judge. The court agreed to remove Judge Steven Nation, but rejected the call for a special judge. White's attorney said they asked that the original trial dates be kept.
They've filed a petition for post-conviction relief (PCR) that's scheduled to be heard on Aug. 15. That date could end up changing since a new judge has been appointed.
The case stems from a dispute over where he lived and where he voted during his campaign for secretary of state. He was accused of living outside the Fishers district he represented. He was convicted of voter fraud, perjury and theft and was subsequently removed from his position as secretary of state.
