(INDIANAPOLIS) - A high school teacher was taken to a hospital on Friday after district officials said he was beaten by a student.
WISH TV 8 reports, the incident happened around 12:15 p.m. at John Marshall Community High School, 10101 E. 38th St.
Indianapolis Public Schools spokesman John Althardt said a ninth grade student assaulted a teacher outside of a classroom. The student reportedly punched the teacher multiple times, before another student pulled the teenager off of him.
The teacher was taken to Community Hospital North to be evaluated and treated. Officials say the teacher's jaw was broken in two places and will undergo a medical procedure Saturday.
The student was arrested and will be disciplined according to IPS policy.
IPS Police Department officials continue to investigate the incident.
