(INDIANAPOLIS) - Two men were arrested Wednesday after selling cocaine to undercover officers, police said.
Jack Rinehart of RTV6 reports that Jose Alvarez and Santiago Hernandez both face felony charges after police reportedly purchased 4 ounces of cocaine from them.
Undercover officers arranged to meet the two men in a parking lot in the 9000 block of Pendleton Pike.
"From the amount of drugs they had on them, this was probably their way of making a living," said Greg Swingle, deputy chief of Lawrence police.
After the parking lot meeting, police served a search warrant at a home in the 7900 block of East 49th Street, where they found 3 kilos of cocaine valued at more than $100,000. Police also seized almost $77,000 in cash, six handguns and four vehicles.
Area resident Adonis Holyfield applauded police efforts.
"Clean it up," Holyfield said. "You got kids out here that want to enjoy the coming summer without all the gunplay and all the drug dealing that's going on."
Lawrence police said the two suspects had been on the law enforcement radar for some time and that, on occasion, Lawrence serves as a distribution hub for people dealing cocaine and methamphetamine.
The suspects will likely face federal charges, but they'll appear in Marion County court Wednesday.
