(MUNCIE) - Some Ball State students got up close and personal with tornadoes in Texas.
Assistant Professor Dr. David Call took 8 students on a trip through the Great Plains to chase storms.
The group was in the Ft. Worth, Texas area on Wednesday when they noticed severe weather. Dr. Call says they were near the town of Mineral Wells when they saw a white tornado wrapped in a white cloud, then found another to the south. That tornado hit the town of Granbury and killed 6 people.
Dr. Call says the group saw the tornado before it hit Granbury, but they were far enough away they did not see damage. Dr. Call says this trip continues through the middle of next week.
He says the class has proven so popular that they've added another class, and trip, in the first two weeks of June.
