(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard has announced the firings of the workers accused in the Land Bank indictments.
In a statement, the Mayor says facts presented by the federal indictment left him little choice but to fire Department of Metropolitan Development employees Reggie Walton and John Hawkins.
The Mayor says the city has also hired attorney Forrest Bowman Jr. to help coordinate efforts between the city and federal investigators still probing the case. Walton and Hawkins are among five men charged with bribery and wire fraud involving sales and transfers of abandoned properties under Land Bank administration. Walton ran Land Bank.
