(NEW CASTLE) - An Indiana prosecutor says a Pennsylvania couple charged with felony neglect after police found five children riding unrestrained in the back of an unheated rental truck in November have agreed to plead guilty as part of a plea deal.
Henry County Prosecutor Joseph Bergacs tells The Courier-Times reports the agreement calls for 41-year-old David Detjen and his 40-year-old wife, Rebecca, of Fairmont City, Pa., to plead guilty to neglect and receive an 11.5 year suspended sentence, and instead be played on probation.
Messages seeking comment from the Detjens' attorneys were left Saturday at the Henry County public defender's office.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 30.
David Detjen told police at the time he was unemployed and moving his family to California to look for work.
