(UNDATED) - Are you still getting those annoying phone calls and text messages from telemarketers? You have until Tuesday to register your landline, cell and prepaid wireless numbers on Indiana’s Do Not Call Registry.
The Attorney General's office has received more than 5,000 complaints this year from consumers who received a telemarketing call from either a live operator or prerecorded message.
The AG's office says "Indiana's Do Not Call law protects registered numbers from receiving certain telemarketing calls but unfortunately, illegitimate businesses and scammers skirt the law by trying to deceive consumers with phony sales pitches.
The top complaints revolve around calls from so-called card member services, home security systems and prize-sweepstakes scams.
Consumers who have already registered don't need to do so again. To sign up or confirm a number is already on the list, go to indianaconsumer.com.
