(INDIANAPOLIS) - One person died Tuesday morning following a head-on collision on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
The accident occurred just before 7 a.m. at West 71st Street and Rodebaugh Road.
A driver in a green Ford Escape was westbound on 71st Street when the driver crossed the center line and hit a white Ford Ranger pickup driving eastbound nearly head-on. Police officials said the Escape had swerved to avoid stopped traffic.
Police say both drivers were taken to the hospital, and one of them, 68-year-old James W. Hill Sr., of Indianapolis, later died.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
