(ELWOOD) - Elwood High School’s former assistant baseball coach is accused of assaulting a player.
The name of the man is not being released because no charges have been filed against him.
Elwood's police chief, Sam Hanna, says the alleged incident happened in Kokomo on the baseball diamond.
Elwood police say there was one witness. What that person saw is unclear because police aren't saying much about the alleged incident.
Officials in Howard County say if the student moves forward with charges, the prosecutor could file battery charges against the coach, which is a class B misdemeanor.
This is the second time in one month an Elwood coach has been under investigation for conduct.
The interim superintendent said the assistant coach stepped down following the allegations.
