(INDIANAPOLIS) - A man was sentenced to 100 years in prison for the sexual assault of four women.
WTHR reports that Quanardel Wells was found guilty last week of sexually assaulting four women in 2009. Police say during the summer of that year, he confined, raped, tortured and abused four prostitutes.
"The conviction of Quanardel Wells struck at the very chord that motivates law enforcement to work the difficult cases, sometimes spending years to get the justice every victim deserves," Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry said.
Wells is currently serving an 80-year sentence for the 2008 sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl whom he abducted while she walked home from a friend's house. He was convicted in 2010 of that crime.
The new sentence will run consecutively to the time he is currently serving.
From 1998 to 2005, Wells was acquitted by multiple juries in five cases involving major felony sexual assault and robbery. In all of those cases, he pitted the victims' word against his own, convincing the juries the acts were consensual.
