(BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY) - No new details will be released concerning the deaths of four Bartholomew County residents until a news conference Tuesday.
Police have not made any arrests in the quadruple murder, which occurred in Waynesville, a small community south of Columbus.
Katherine Burton, 53, Thomas Smith, 41, Aaron Cross, 41 and Shawn Burton, 41, were found dead in a Waynesville home overnight Saturday. The coroner will not release cause of death until Tuesday.
Bartholomew County Sheriff Mark Gorbett says there is just too much to look into with four people murdered inside the home, and with the safety of both the community and officers in mind. The sheriff says the next update they will have won't be until Tuesday morning.
Investigators say a relative returned to the home on Main Street around 10:30 pm Saturday and found the four victims dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
All four of the victims have been in some kind of trouble with the police in the past. Several people in the area suspect that drugs played a role in the crime.
The sheriff says investigators have interviewed several people, and the relative who called 911 has been questioned several times and is cooperating with the investigation.
