(VINCENNES) - Five police officers have been cleared to return to work after a review of a shooting in which a southwestern Indiana man was killed.
Vincennes Police Chief Dusty Luking says a department review board found all the officers acted properly during the April 29 confrontation with 42-year-old Ross Darkis.
Luking tells the Vincennes Sun-Commercial that the officers returned to regular duties Wednesday after being on administrative leave.
Police say Darkis was on his porch with a handgun and angry after an argument with his girlfriend. The officers tried to use a stun gun on Darkis before he aimed his gun at them, prompting them to shoot him.
State police Sgt. Todd Ringle says investigators reviewing the shooting have found no wrongdoing, but are awaiting ballistic test results.
