Woman Allegedly Killed Man Over Sex Photos

Last updated on Saturday, May 11, 2013

(NEW ALBANY) - An Indiana woman who told police she killed a man who broke into her home actually shot him because he had sex photos of her, police say.

Lisa Shuler, 31, was arrested Tuesday, The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal reported. Charles Pierce, 49, of Louisville was killed at the house she rented in Floyd County, across the Ohio River in Indiana, police said.

In her first statement to police, Shuler said she shot Pierce because he broke into the house, Floyd County Detective Brad Powell said in an affidavit. She later changed her story, saying she had had a sexual relationship with Pierce and he had photos she did not want her estranged husband to see.

On Wednesday, Shuler told police she invited Pierce to her house to play a "rape fantasy." But she said he wanted to go past the point where she was willing and she did not simply tell him to leave because of the photos.

"Shuler advised that ... she pulled out her firearm and fired two rounds from a kneeling position at close range into Pierce's body," Powell said.
