(INDIANAPOLIS) - Police have launched an investigation into a woman’s claim that she was raped by a man who held her captive for two days in a neighborhood off East 35th Street.
Stephen Dean of RTV6 reports that the woman called 911 early Sunday morning to say that she had been held captive for two days and had just broken free.
When officers arrived, she said she had been raped by the man during her captivity, with the most recent assault being just 20 minutes before she escaped.
Police found the 57-year-old suspect standing on the porch with her, but officers said today that he has not yet been arrested or charged.
The woman was taken to Methodist Hospital so that police could gather DNA evidence and put her in touch with help for sex crime victims.
Officers would not say how the woman met the suspect, but records show she does live about five blocks away from him.
