(CARMEL) - Police in Carmel are investigating after a woman’s body was found Thursday afternoon.
Carmel Police Public Information Officer Jeff Horner says the body was found in a car parked in a storage unit in the 1000 block of Rangeline Road.
Police at the scene say workers were unable to contact the owner of the unit for some time. According to procedures, after making a number of attempts to contact an owner and fail to reach someone, they open the unit.
Workers then found a woman, deceased, in the driver's seat of a red Volkswagen. Authorities believe the woman had been in the car since early March.
Investigators say an autopsy will determine a cause of death. They are now working to identify the woman.
