(SPENCERVILLE) - An historic DeKalb County covered bridge been repaired.
Last September, a semi plowed through the bridge ripping down support beams and other parts of the structure.
The popular, 140-year-old bridge has sparked a local festival and over the last decade or so drew widespread support to keep it open, rather than replace with a modern bridge. Since that time, a new span was built just south of the wooden bridge.
Local highway officials say the bridge still needs to pass final inspection, but its all but good to go.
