(GIBSON COUNTY) - In Gibson County, county commissioners approved an economic development area along I-69.
Now the plan moves on to the redevelopment commission.
Leaders hope it will bring restaurants, hotels, and high-tech industries to the county.
They also hope to bring waste water facilities to some of their smaller towns.
"We think that there is a lot of opportunity. It may take decades for all of this to come about because this is a long term plan, a long term strategy. This isn't something that we anticipate happening overnight," says Todd Mosby with Gibson County Economic Development.
This area includes most of the privately owned land along the interstate.
A public meeting will be held in a few weeks to get the land owners feedback.
