(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is giving out $3.4 million in federal grants to 18 groups to hire volunteers.
The office announced Wednesday the money will pay for 479 full and part-time jobs with AmeriCorps who will work on issues including poverty, health and education. Volunteers can also qualify for student loan and tuition support.
Executive Director Jeff Cardwell said the need for volunteers is "greater than ever."
