Man Found Not Guilty Of Abusing Young Family Member

Last updated on Saturday, June 1, 2013

(TERRE HAUTE) - A Wabash Valley man accused of sexually abusing a young family member has been found not guilty.

Bruce Bridgewater was arrested last summer on child molestation charges. A female family member told police that Bridgewater sexually abused her when she was between six and 13 years old.

Bridgewater went on trial this week. While the alleged victim testified about the reported abuse, Bridgewater's defense argued that there was no other evidence of abuse and that investigators had not worked to verify the abuse claims.

Late Thursday morning, a Vigo County jury returned a verdict of "not guilty" on the charge against Bridgewater.

Bridgewater still faces related charges in Crawford County, Ill.
