(UNDATED) - Marion Mayor Wayne Seybold announced on Tuesday that he’s running for Indiana State Treasurer in the upcoming 2014 elections.
Seybold says he wants to focus on strengthening local government. He says he's spoken with current Treasurer Richard Mourdock about his bid. He says Mourdock has wished him well.
Seybold cites his experience as a former city councilman and as a Mayor who navigated his city through the economic downturn as top qualifications for the job.
Seybold has secured endorsements from about 50 state lawmakers. He was surrounded by family and some supporters as he announced his bid on the east steps of the Indiana Statehouse.
