(INDIANAPOLIS) - The personal computer retail sector is heating up in Indiana. But can Microsoft take a bite out of Apple?
Microsoft is opening its first, full-service store in Indianapolis at Keystone at the Crossing Saturday. Singing star Kelly Clarkson is set to perform at the grand opening.
Microsoft already has a kiosk at Keystone, but Bloomerang.co spokesman Steven Shattuck says a full service store is Microsoft's way of really getting the "game on" with Apple which has a very popular store at Keystone.
Shattuck says Microsoft is clearly aligning itself with Google and Android to compete with Apple. Shattuck says even though Apple has rabid followers, Android also has loyal followers and Microsoft hopes to use that platform and gain greater market share with its relatively new Surface tablet/laptop.
Shattuck says Microsoft is hoping to tout features that the Surface has that they say iPads don't.
Shattuck says Kelly Clarkson may help lure younger folks who are likely to take a look at Microsoft products.
