Police Arrest Ivy Tech Flasher

Last updated on Sunday, June 16, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man was arrested on the Ivy Tech campus after a student was flashed near the library.

Indianapolis Metro Police say a flasher exposed himself to a female student outside the library Thursday afternoon. She was walking from her car to the Ivy Tech Library on North Illinois Street when it happened.

A witness helped police find the suspected flasher inside the library restroom. Police detained 23-year-old Lorenzo Wilson, who is not a student, and questioned him at IMPD's sex crimes office.

It wasn't the first time Wilson has been arrested for the crime. He even had an ankle bracelet on when police busted him as part of his probation on another conviction.

Police say Wilson exposed himself two weeks ago to two 12-year-old girls in the same college library. He sat near them, clearing his throat to get their attention, then flashed them. That crime is a felony.

A day before the Ivy Tech incident, police stopped an IUPUI student for exposing himself to a female. He told police he just forgot to close his zipper. He was told to leave campus.

Eyewitness News asked female students, "Why do some men do this stuff?"

"I think it's because we don't have enough penalties for when people are out of the norm of what's required for society," said Valerie Rodriguez.

"I have no idea. It's just...it's 2013. They should realize it by now," said Valeria Simpson.

"It concerns me. Kind of makes me uneasy, but I'm glad they got him," said nursing student Christy Osborne.

Police want anyone who believes they have been flashed by Wilson to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
