(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man was arrested Monday night after police said he rode a bicycle with his 3-year-old daughter in his arms, all while under the influence of alcohol.
Major Jones, 53, was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent and public intoxication.
According to the police report, an officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3500 block in reference to a domestic disturbance. When the officer arrived, the woman stated her children's father was drunk and she wanted him to leave the residence.
The officer described Jones to have "glassy blood shot eyes, thick slurred speech [and] odor of an alcoholic beverage." The officer later left the scene after Jones agreed to leave the residence and go to a friend's house.
Approximately 20 minutes later, the officer was dispatched to the location again after the woman reported Jones returned to the house and took their 3-year-old daughter. According to the report, the officer saw Jones on a bicycle "wobbling back and forth while riding into traffic."
Jones was pulled over and detained, and his daughter was returned to her mother.
