(UNDATED) - The “rank” of popular American cereal character Cap’n Crunch has come under question by some zealous consumers.
According to some eagle-eyed cereal fans, Cap'n Crunch isn't a captain.
The three stripes featured on the character's sleeves indicate he's actually a lower-ranked commander, instead of the four stripes bestowed upon captains.
According to the Quaker Oats website , the character's official name is Cap'n Horatio Magellan Crunch. He was born on Crunch Island, in the Sea of Milk.
Food bloggers say the name "Commander Crunch" just doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
