(MILLTOWN) - A 69-year-old man died in a southern Indiana river Wednesday, the second death in the river in as many days.
Police in Harrison County say William Chappell of Boonville was canoeing with his wife when they struck a log and capsized. Chappell, who was wearing a life jacket, was pinned beneath the canoe. His grandson, who was nearby in a kayak, freed the man and began performing CPR.
Chappell was conscious when he was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital, but died of complications after he arrived.
A 16-year-old girl drowned when she was swept away by swift currents on the river near Milltown Tuesday.
