(INDIANAPOLIS) - Sidney Elaine Leathers is the woman who traded obscene messages with New York City Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, forcing Weiner to issue a public apology Tuesday, according to TheDirty.com , the website that broke the story.
Leathers is identified as an Indiana campaign worker for Organizing for America.
Leathers also wrote political blogs including one where she identified Weiner as one of her heroes.
Various reports say Leathers lives in Evansville and Democrats at Party Headquarters in Indianapolis say they are unfamiliar with her.
Weiner resigned from Congress after a sexting scandal in 2011 and the online conversations between Weiner and Leathers, supplied to Dirty.com by an anonymous source, took place in 2012.
