(BOONE COUNTY) - Lebanon police are investigating after a body was found in a fishing pond in Boone County.
The discovery was reported just after 11 a.m. and the investigation is still in its early stages. The club is located at 701 E. Noble Street.
According to Lt. Brent Wheat from the Lebanon Police Department, two men were cutting back some brush to go fishing when they discovered a body floating in the water and called 911. The pond is a private fishing area for club members.
Wheat says the property is enclosed with a high barbwire fence and a locked gate.
Police say the victim, a middle-aged white male, was partially clothed. He hadn't been in the water for a long time and showed no apparent signs of being injured, Wheat said.
Police don't know why the man was back there or if he belonged to the club. He added that the crime scene is large-about 20 acres-with water, forest and parkland. A dive team and officers from other law enforcement agents have been brought in to help search the area.
Investigators plan to canvas the nearby neighborhood to find out if anyone saw anything.
Police say the man had no identification. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
