(HAMILTON CO.) - The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the body found in a submerged SUV at Geist Reservoir is that of 18-year-old Peyton Riekhof.
Search teams found Riekhof's SUV around 4:30 Sunday afternoon, after receiving a tip from a neighbor in the Tamenend Trace neighborhood. That person told police she found tire tracks on her property, leading into the reservoir.
The Hamilton County Coroner says the cause of death is being ruled as a drowning. Fishers Police are still trying to determine why Riekhof's SUV left the roadway, went through a yard and into Geist Reservoir. Earlier reports say Peyton was "agitated" after leaving a friend's home in Geist early Thursday morning.
Peyton, a 2013 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern High School, was bound for college at Kansas University. She was last seen early Thursday morning, buying gas at a gas station at 96th and Olio Road.
