(SOUTH BEND) - St Joseph County Prosecutors filed charges on Wednesday against former South Bend restaurant owner Christopher Kohut for forgery and theft.
Kohut opened the Passport Woodfire Grill last summer, only to go out of business last September.
The restaurant was plagued by setbacks, including multiple city and county citations and a fight among employees that seriously injured a cook.
Federal and state court records show Kohut is besieged with civil claims from those trying to collect large debts owed to them in connection with the restaurant.
Kohut filed for bankruptcy in Indiana in January. The filings say he owes more than $965,000.
