(UNDATED) - A sheriff’s deputy was fired Friday after being arrested for reportedly driving drunk downtown, police said.
Alan F. Jones, 67, a five-year veteran of the Marion County Sheriff's Office, was arrested just before midnight Thursday on a DWI charge.
Officials said Jones' blood-alcohol content was .13, almost twice the legal limit of .08.
Police said Jones was driving an unmarked MCSO vehicle at the time of the arrest.
Jones was an officer with metro police before joining the sheriff's department.
