(TERRE HAUTE) - A train collided with a dump truck near 25th and Margaret Avenue Thursday afternoon, and the driver was able to walk away only a bit dazed and dust covered.
Jeremy Lofton, the driver of the dump truck and an employee of New Interstate Concrete told police he didn't have enought time to stop, os he pushed on the gas pedal and cut the truck to the right to avoid getting hit in the cab.
The collision with the train flipped Lofton's truck on its side.
Lofton was driving a dump truck loaded with limestone. Lofton said he came to the train crossing that had no railroad crossing arms, but he did see that the warning lights were flashing and he heard the horn of the northbound Indiana Rail Road train.
Lofton was not injured in the accident and needed no medical attention.
