(MADISON) - For the first time in the event’s 63 years, high water on the Ohio River forced the cancellation of the Madison Regatta hydroplane races.
Organizers say heavy rains had kept the swollen river from receding to acceptable levels. However, the land events planned for the regatta still went on.
Event organizers opened the gates to allow free admission on Sunday.
